Interface across various work areas and organizations to help with the design, development and analysis of different semiconductor packaging technologies to enable differentiation for TI’s analog and embedded processing products. Material engineers play an important role at TI which encompasses the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct research for plating, solder and metallic materials. Provide technical assessment methods, drive roadmap material development
  • Lead leadframe roadmap capability enhancement to achieve cost entitlement and extend package capability
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to achieve organization priorities and provide technical suggestions
  • Broadly understand industry trend and emerging technologies. Collaborate with suppliers to develop competitive solutions
  • Be a part of a collaborative, cross-functional team
  • Develop new package requirements and maintaining quality of existing packages for all product groups
  • Define package requirements for product groups and customer requirements
  • Develop new package and process qualification programs
  • Perform integrity analysis of packages utilizing appropriate tools
  • Perform package characterizations including cost effectiveness studies
  • Act as a liaison with vendors
  • Maintain product quality while developing and introducing package cost reduction programs
  • Coordinate the introduction of new package processes into production
  • Prepare and/or updates specifications for piece parts of integrated circuits or semiconductor assemblies

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical engineering, Material Science, and/or Metallurgy
  • Research experience in plating, solder, and/or metallic materials
  • Fresh graduates to less than 2 years of relevant working experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluent in verbal and written English, fluent in verbal Mandarin
  • Good knowledge of plating materials, plating chemicals, solder materials, fluxes, and/or metallic materials
  • Demonstrated material characterization capability and failure analysis capability
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team
